Where Can I Buy Google Pixel 2

There have been reported issues about the display on the Pixel 2 XL though. One is screen burn-in, wherein remnants of images remain on the screen despite not being actively displayed. Screen burn-in does happen on different types of displays, but usually after some time. The fact that it's happening on such a premium and expensive phone so soon is a red flag. Google issued a statement saying that the Pixel 2 XL's burn-in issue was "in line with that of other premium smartphones and should not affect the normal, day-to-day user experience" (despite the fact that we didn't see evidence of burn-in on the Pixel 2, LG V30 or Galaxy S8). The company promises ongoing software updates starting in the next few weeks that will optimize the phone against burn-in and extended both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL's warranty to two years.

Because of all of these problems with the new Pixel 2 phones, Google has revealed that will offer a free two year warranty worldwide for both devices. This means that people who get the Pixel 2 models in the US will get one extra year under the normal warranty; other markets where the phone is sold already have two years worth of warranty. The premium Preferred Care plan with the Pixel 2 or 2 XL is currently unchanged. Preferred Care subscribers pay $129 to get their phones replaced in case of accidental damage or device breakdown; that plan lasts for two years as well.

In just about any light, the Pixel 2 XL takes fabulous photos. It also takes them unbelievably quickly and where you might end up with a blurry shot on another flagship, the Pixel captures the moment in biting sharpness almost every time.

The Pixel 2 XL runs on the newer and more powerful Snapdragon 835, but the the marriage of Google's Android OS and Google's Pixel hardware is so efficient that it almost feels like the Pixel 2 XL isn't putting any strain on its chip. That should make for some great future-proofing, where the Pixel 2 XL will continue to perform amazingly well for at least a couple years.

Most phones with a portrait mode, where the background is made to look more blurry, use a dual-lens camera setup, like the iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The Pixel 2 XL achieves an excellent portrait mode with only a single lens.

Released a month after the regular-sized Pixel 2, the 2 XL is a 6in smartphone with a P-OLED screen and a 20-megapixel rear camera that, according to DxOMark, is unbeatable. The latest Snapdragon 835 processor runs the show, complete with 4GB of RAM and a choice of either 64GB or 128GB of non-expandable storage.

But elsewhere there is good news. The Pixel 2 has a new textured aluminium back which makes it easier to hold one-handed and the large top and bottom bezel space this year is used to fit front firing stereo speakers - a great move and welcome differentiator to rivals (the Pixel 2 XL also has this).

Separately Google also promises the already superb fingerprint sensor in the Pixel has been upgraded in the Pixel 2 and will be the fastest on the market. In a year where Apple controversially ditched Touch ID on the iPhone X, this could be a big selling point for the Pixel 2.

On the back Google has stuck with a 12 megapixel camera sensor but it has a faster aperture (f/1.8 vs f/2.0) and optical image stabilisation while combining it with the gyroscopic stabilisation and laser autofocus which was so effective on the Pixel. The front camera of the Pixel 2 has also bumped up from 7MP to 8MP.

As mentioned earlier, the Pixel 2 also lacks wireless charging in a year where even Apple jumped aboard (strange when some old Google Nexus phones supported it years ago), though fast wired charging out the box via USB-PD over USB-C could teach Apple a thing or two.

Portrait mode with the Pixel 2 is when you take a picture of a person, and artificial intelligence then blurs the background. You can see an example in the photos below, where our model Pierre appears on a normal and a blurred background. Portrait mode is also available with the front camera. The technology behind this is quite complex.

Using HDR+ technology, the camera snaps a quality photo that is rich in detail. After that, AI steps in: the neural network analyses the image to understand where the background to be blurred is based on its prior learning, which is naturally Machine Learning. Though the tech is complex, this is as simple as turning on Portrait mode for the user. The end result is two photos, like what you see below: the original detailed shot, and the blurred Portrait shot.

Obviously, the best place to sell your phone is wherever you can get your best Google Pixel 2 trade-in price. Finding this can take a lot of time and research, though. Take the headache out of the process by using our price comparison website at BankMyCell.com.
